In May and June 2026, our PhD student Maike Ramrath visited the Transportation Research Group (TRG) at the University of Southampton. Together with the team of Professor Mark S. Young, she conducted an experimental study in the flight simulator laboratory, investigating trust, situation awareness, and performance during the concurrent management of flight and monitoring tasks.

In addition to the laboratory work, Maike Ramrath presented her PhD project during an institutional seminar, which provided valuable impulses and room for an in-depth academic exchange with the local researchers. The end of her visit was rounded off by the Engineering Design Show, where students presented their end-of-semester projects.

The successful exchange has already led to initial ideas for future joint studies between the Chair of Work and Environmental Psychology and the Transportation Research Group. The research visit was made possible by a VRC Travel Grant awarded by the Europe Chapter of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES).
