In mid-April 2026, our PhD student Maike Ramrath traveled to Copenhagen, Denmark, to attend the Annual Meeting of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society - Europe Chapter. The annual conference provides a platform for international exchange on current trends, methodologies, and challenges in the field of human factors.

The centerpiece of her conference contribution was a poster presentation titled "Critical System Information in High-Risk Work". Based on a systematic review, Maike and her co-authors shed light on the psychological mechanisms involved in perceiving system information essential for tasks in high-risk environments. This work contributes to a more precise understanding and design of interfaces and information flows in safety-critical work contexts. The poster can be viewed here.

The conference also offered ample opportunity to network with other doctoral students and gain new inspiration for her own research project. In addition, Maike is taking on an active role in the community as the new Communication Officer for the HFES Europe Chapter.

Her participation in the conference was made possible through financial support from the Center for Graduate Studies (ZGS).
